Mr. Arata has been practicing Federal Criminal Defense in Indiana since 1981 and was trial counsel for Dewey Jones v. U.S.A. click here wherein Mr. Jones’ 35 year sentence and conviction was reversed 9-0 by the U.S. Supreme Court due to Mr. Arata’s argument at trial that the Federal Government lacked jurisdiction to prosecute Mr. Jones on an arson charge.

He has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Northern District of Indiana, the Southern District of Indiana, and the Eastern District of California. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1979 and has been practicing law in Indiana since 1980.
